About us
MO&PA was born in a small boliche in Ubrique. We are Montse and Paula, two sisters who grew up surrounded by leather, tools and craftsmanship.
Our story began long before MO&PA. In 1991, our parents opened their leather workshop in the garage of our family home in Ubrique. What we call a boliche here: a small artisan workshop where skilled hands, experience and a love for the craft are everything.
All our lives, we have watched them work with leather for some of the world’s leading luxury brands. We grew up surrounded by a craft that, almost without us realising it, became part of who we are too.
And now, we want to write our own chapter.
A SECOND LIFE FOR LEATHER
When a bag is made, small pieces of leather are left over that, because of their size or shape, can no longer be used to make another one.
High-quality leather that still has so much to offer.
So one day, we thought: what if we could do something with it?
And from that question, MO&PA was born.
We recover leather offcuts from our own workshop and other workshops in Ubrique and transform them by hand into coin purses, wallets, keyrings and other small leather goods.
What was once a leftover piece of leather becomes the beginning of something new.
PIECES WITH A STORY OF THEIR OWN
Working with leather offcuts means we never know exactly what will come next. The colours and leathers available change depending on what is being made in the workshops of Ubrique. A particular colour may be here today and perhaps never return.
And that is exactly what we love about it.
We also make every piece by hand, and we want you to be part of the process too, choosing from different options to make it a little more your own.
We are not interested in making thousands of identical pieces. We want each one to have a story of its own.
A NEW GENERATION
MO&PA is two sisters, but it is also the continuation of a family story.
Montse is behind the day-to-day running of the project, from design and production to the website and social media. After completing her degree in Translation and Interpreting, she also has a very clear goal: to make sure that everything created in this small corner of Ubrique can travel beyond its borders and reach people further afield.
Paula combines her studies to become a teacher with her work at MO&PA, bringing new ideas and playing an active part in everything we are building together.
We have new ideas and new ways of doing things, but there is one thing we do not want to change: the traditional way of making them by hand.
Every MO&PA piece passes through our hands and is made in our small boliche in Ubrique.
MO&PA was born to give leather a second life while continuing a story that began long before us.
A story of family, craftsmanship and the desire to create something of our own.
